Volunteer, Facilitator and Performer Brief
Volunteer, Facilitator and Performer Brief
An evening of discovery, connection and being present.
Thank you for giving your time and talent.
This brief is for volunteers, facilitators, artists and performers. It explains the spirit of the evening and what we ask of you.
The Elsewhere Experience is an interactive wellbeing evening for at least 200 guests. Guests move, breathe, make, rest and play together. Your part helps them feel rested, connected and well.
Faith informs the values behind the evening: gratitude, compassion, humility, service and beauty. Guests of any faith, or none, are equally welcome. Nobody is required to pray or take part in any ritual.
How we work with guests.
- Everything is optional. Invite guests, make it easy to say no, and welcome those who watch or step away.
- Rest comes first. Keep the pace unhurried. Leave space and silence.
- No health claims. Never suggest that the evening or your activity treats, heals or cures anything. Say "an invitation to slow down", not "this will fix your stress".
- Be accurate about your role. Use the title you actually hold. Do not describe yourself as a therapist or counsellor unless that is your qualification and role.
- Ask before touching. No physical contact unless a guest has clearly agreed.
- Never ask guests to disclose struggles. If a guest chooses to share, listen kindly and tell the welfare lead if you are concerned.
- Respect every belief. Do not preach or promote any faith, product or cause.
- Credit and permission. Use only your own material, or material you have permission to use, and credit it.
Roles and what each involves.
| Role | What you do |
|---|---|
| Volunteer | Welcome guests, guide them to spaces, help at serving points, keep the quiet space calm, and report any concerns to the welfare lead. |
| Facilitator | Lead a segment such as movement, breath, making or conversation. State the purpose in a sentence, keep to your time, offer easy alternatives, and make opting out comfortable. |
| Artist or performer | Share music, performance or visual work in the Expression and Celebration parts. Keep to the agreed length and content, and make sure what you share is suitable for a mixed audience. |
Fees, expenses, meals and thanks for each role are agreed with each person individually and are to be confirmed with you. Nothing is agreed until it is confirmed in writing.

Tell us as early as you can. We would rather rearrange than have you push through.
